General Steel Drum was established in 1979 to service the needs of drum fillers in the Mid Atlantic States. The company operates from a purpose built factory in the state of North Carolina and has built a considerable reputation for its technical expertise in the production and supply of high quality new steel drums. General is able to offer excellent service with its large fleet of tractors and trailers.
Over the years, the dedicated efforts of our manufacturing group have brought General Steel Drum to a position of strength and quality that far surpasses what our expectations were in 1979.
During the last few years, General has expanded and upgraded its physical facilities to address the increase in production that has gradually occurred over the last 21 years. We have installed a world class tester - designed by W. Von der Heyde Gambh, a 7 lap seam to meet and/or exceed UN requirements, an ISO "W" style drum design, and a state-of-the-art Merco lining system which we consider the best in the world. In addition, we continue to upgrade our cleaning process. We know better results are achieved by our method of cleaning steel in the cylindrical form as compared to cleaning flat sheets which leads to the possibility of contaminated steel under interior coating.
These improvements have enhanced every aspect of our production capabilities. The improvements at General go beyond manufacturing capabilities. Each year we grow due to customer requirements. At the same time we are providing increasing levels of financial investment in order to continue to provide our customers with the best drum in the industry.
